Henderson just got better! Vegas Golden Knights Chairman and CEO Bill Foley announced that the American Hockey League Henderson franchise would be known as the Henderson Silver Knights.
On their website, Mr. Foley welcomed the community through an open letter. It explained the ideology behind the logo and symbolism of the organization: “Knights are the Epitome of the Warrior Class. Knights are courageous, valiant, protect the unprotected, and defend those who cannot defend themselves. The Henderson Silver Knights will embrace these noble qualities on and off the ice and positively represent the Henderson community. [1]”
Locals have embraced the team; the franchise has already received deposits for 7,600 season tickets. Henderson Silver Knights will play their first season at the Orleans Arena while they await the construction of their new facility named Lifeguard Arena, slated to be open September 15.[1]
The arena will be approximately 7 miles from our development Asacya. It is exciting that pro sports will be an addition to the list of what already makes Henderson a great place to live. Henderson is Nevada’s second-largest city and made the official list of top 50 best places to live in Money Magazine.[3] Forbes magazine named it the second safest city in America.[4]
These accolades are not news to residents of Henderson. This western jewel offers an influential culture driven by a strong sense of community while still giving residents access to all that Vegas has to offer.
So please join us in welcoming the first pro-sports team Henderson Silver Knights, to our city!
