ASCAYA invests more than $65 million in Henderson this year

Thornton, Sarah. “ASCAYA invests more than $65 million in Henderson this year.”

HENDERSON (May 31, 2016)  ASCAYA, a collection of luxury home sites in Henderson, has made significant progress in its development this year, with its developer committing more than $65 million to the community this year alone. ASCAYA has commissioned some of the country’s top architects to create homes that will serve as an inspiration to buyers and those interested in Desert Contemporary architecture. Two Inspiration Homes are already under construction with three more scheduled to begin building by the end of June.

ASCAYA’s developer has completely funded $40 million for seven Inspiration Homes that average $5.7 million each in design, construction and land value. All seven of ASCAYA’s Inspiration Homes will be under construction by the end of the year, with its first one scheduled for completion in early 2017.

“We really wanted to make ASCAYA a gathering spot of ultra-luxury Desert Contemporary architecture, and have brought some of the country’s top firms together for a truly unique collection,” said John Simmons, project manager at ASCAYA. “I don’t know of another community in Nevada of this caliber that has ever undertaken an architectural endeavor of this magnitude.”

Simmons, a Nevada native, said the level of sophistication in ASCAYA’s architecture will elevate Henderson’s status as one of the most desirable places to live in Nevada.

“We are making a significant investment in the community with our Inspiration Homes and a $25 million clubhouse that was designed by one of the most renowned Desert Contemporary architects in the country, John Sather,” he said. “The clubhouse is under construction and scheduled for completion early next year. We have also completed nearly $2 million in landscaping and public area improvements that elevate the overall look of ASCAYA.”

Guests to the hillside community will be greeted with colorful and abundant desert landscaping scenes, wrought iron fencing and infrastructure normally seen in communities that have been completely built out.

“I find ASCAYA to be very unique to the entire valley in this respect,” said Simmons. “It is unusual to come to a new community and find everything in place…the home sites are ready, the infrastructure is in place and the community amenities are already under construction. It is a very inviting environment, from a design standpoint.”

“This is the most talked-about community in Henderson,” said Simmons. “It is the largest known hillside development in Southern Nevada, and I don’t believe there will be an opportunity for a community like this to ever occur again. Both City of Henderson staff and the community really support ASCAYA and are genuinely proud that it is being developed in Henderson. That overwhelming support is one of the reasons it has been able to succeed so quickly.”

Simmons said Henderson’s high national rankings have made it attractive to owners at ASCAYA. “A recent study named Henderson #5 in the nation for safety in cities with populations over 200,000. There is a park within 1.5 miles of every resident and Henderson is nationally recognized as one of the most bicycle friendly communities in the country,” he said. “Henderson is also recognized as one of the top 10 best cities to raise your children and is among the top cities in the nation for elementary, middle and high school education.”

With Henderson’s reputation for excellence in mind, ASCAYA’s development team has been careful to preserve the natural materials of the area, along with the habitats of wildlife that live in the McCullough Range. “I don’t know of any other community where you can regularly see wildlife roaming around,” he said. “There are an estimated 20-40 head of majestic bighorn sheep that roam the hillsides around ASCAYA.”

ASCAYA currently has ten residences under construction, with its first private residence scheduled for completion in June. Its $25 million clubhouse and several Inspiration Homes are also currently under construction.
