Henderson Shaping the Future with Education

Not only does Henderson provide the best infrastructure in the realm of business but also in the realm of higher education.

The focus on higher education is a constant pursuit for continuous growth and improvement in the city of Henderson.  This month Henderson took initiative and partnered with Clark County School District to host tours of the most prominent manufacturing facilities in the city.

In honor of celebrating this month’s National Manufacturing Day middle and high school students will have the opportunity to learn more about this local sector and future career opportunities.

According to Barbra Coffee, Director of City of Henderson’s Economic Development and Tourism Division, “Henderson is home to more than 50 manufacturing firms and the city is well positioned for future manufacturing growth.”

As Henderson continues to spur economic growth apart from the typified Vegas gaming industry the city also takes lead in shaping the future to improve higher education.

Henderson not only ranks well above statewide. Two of Henderson’s schools, Bob Miller Middle School and John C. Vanderburg Elementary School, both rank in the top 50 across the United States.

Digital-Age Learning Programs

Henderson provides exceptional educational programs that spur to produce these top ranked students and schools through digital-age learning programs.

According to State Superintendent Steve Canavero three Henderson middle schools were among the 20 recipients of the Nevada Ready 21 Digital Learning Program.  This program is committed to providing equitable, technology-rich education environments for Henderson students.

Direct Funding

Next year all Clark County public schools will start operating under a new system that gives 80% of all funding directly to schools and empowers principals to make more decisions at the local school level.  There will also be a greater role for parental involvement through organizational teams at each school that will work with the principal, teachers and support staff to develop the school budget.

Community Initiatives

In community surveys, Henderson residents rank education as their number one issue and there is a high level of engagement on the part of parents and community members.  Many of Clark County’s most experienced teachers can also be found in Henderson classrooms, bringing a wealth of earned knowledge to their students.

As a community that is home to many of the best schools in Southern Nevada, Henderson has developed a reputation as a great place to live for families that want to ensure their kids are receiving a quality education.
