With pickleball “crowned the fastest-growing sport in the US for the past two years by the Sports & Fitness Industry Association,” it’s no surprise that real estate developments and homeowners are rushing to build courts. The game offers an exciting fusion of ping pong, tennis and badminton, all on a sizably smaller court, making it easier for all ages to participate in.
Speaking to the rise in luxury communities adding pickleball as an amenity, Mike Leipart, a managing partner at The Agency Development Group, said the sport had “literally exploded.” “Four or five years ago, if you brought up to a developer that we should think about pickleball courts, the first question would be, ‘What is that?'” Now, Leipart continued, the developers he works with consider it a must-have to attract buyers.”
