Ascaya’s Melissa Tomastik on LA’s Bird Streets in a Desert Setting & More

Our latest one-on-one is with Sales Associate Melissa Tomastik, one-third of The Agency real estate team dedicated to selling at Ascaya. Lauded for her impeccable attention to detail and exemplary concierge-style client service, Melissa specializes in the sale and purchase of new construction homes at Ascaya. Below, discover Melissa’s journey from hospitality to real estate, her favorite Las Vegas sushi spot, why Ascaya draws car enthusiasts, and more.

Tell us about your professional background, and how you ended up being a real estate professional exclusively focused on sales at Ascaya.

I got into real estate in the early months of the pandemic to allow myself to explore new opportunities. I previously worked in the hospitality industry, which allowed me to interact with locals and tourists in Las Vegas, giving me a unique perspective on all my potential client’s needs no matter where they are from. I got connected to The Agency after a mutual friend had seen a social media post about a luxury transaction I was involved in. After hearing about the position and its involvement with this esteemed development, I knew I had to jump on the opportunity.

Vegas has some of the best restaurants in the world. What are some of your favorites on the Strip, off-strip, and in Henderson?

It really does. My favorite restaurant is Yellowtail at Bellagio for high-quality sushi with a phenomenal view of the Bellagio fountain show. Hank’s Fine Dining in Green Valley Ranch is my go-to steakhouse when I would like to stay close to home – it has a relaxing ambiance and fantastic dining experience.

In addition to dining, Vegas is home to endless shopping spots. What are some of your favorite shops around Ascaya?

The District is a fun place to grab a nice lunch and home goods through Williams & Sonoma and my favorite, Pottery Barn. Another spot not far from The District for hand-picked home items would be Ninush, an independently owned and curated art gallery and furniture store.

It’s been said that Ascaya is like LA’s iconic ‘Bird Streets’ neighborhood with a climate similar to Palm Springs. What are your thoughts on this, and how do you speak to the stunning architectural view, valley, mountain, and canyon homes found within the gates of Ascaya?

Both have a unique blend of custom contemporary architecture paired with a hillside slope that enables an incredible view. Extremely impressive work that should be admired by all.

Ascaya has 21 miles of mountainous streets that Robb Report magazine turned into a closed-course, slaloming road runway for its Dream Machine event. Would you say the community is a draw to car enthusiasts?

I absolutely believe that Ascaya goes hand-in-hand with luxury goods, and extravagant vehicles should definitely be included in that. The roadways at Ascaya make for a great driving experience with a unique mountain range backdrop and exclusive smooth paving all while enjoying the desert scenery.

What’s your favorite time of day at Ascaya and why?

Sunset is my favorite time of day at Ascaya. Seeing cotton candy-like skies all while being able to enjoy the Las Vegas lights shown in the distance is a view that everyone should encounter at least once in their life.

With the sales success Ascaya is having, what are some of the trends you’re seeing in terms of where buyers are coming from, why they are seeking a home in Nevada and why at Ascaya?

We are seeing a large influx of buyers from neighboring states like California, due to taxes and the cost of living. Ascaya offers them many luxuries at a price point that ends up saving them money. With the Clubhouse and Family Park (under construction) they will have everything in close proximity to make their transition a smooth one.
